When to consult
When should you consult about fall risk?
After a first fall the risk of the next one doubles. Do not wait for the second: almost every factor can be corrected.
When to consult
- You have had one or more falls in the past year.
- You hold on to furniture or walls to walk.
- You feel dizzy or your vision blurs when standing up.
- You go out less because you are afraid of falling.
Before your visit
- Write down how, where and at what time the falls or stumbles happened.
- Bring the shoes you wear daily and your cane or walker, if you use one.
- Full medication list: several increase the risk of falling.
Important points
- The fear of falling is treated too: limiting activity weakens you and raises the risk.
- A fall with a blow to the head or severe pain needs immediate attention, not a scheduled visit.
- Sleeping pills and some blood pressure drugs are frequent, correctable causes.

Question not here? Send me a WhatsApp message and I will answer personally.
Ask on WhatsAppIs falling normal at a certain age?
It is frequent, but not normal. There are almost always identifiable, modifiable causes; correcting them prevents fractures and loss of independence.
Will a cane make me more dependent?
The opposite: properly prescribed and at the right height, it gives confidence and lets you walk more.
Which exercise helps most?
Strength and balance work, adapted to your condition. The visit ends with a concrete, progressive plan.
